How can you create an educational environment
for your children that teaches them what they need to
know... and not what they don't? How can you design
a school that gives your children the tools they need--
in an atmosphere that reflects and transmits your most
deeply held values?
What can you "make" a public school
do, and when do you have to look outside that system?
Should your child join one of these charter schools
you have heard about? Should you join with other parents
who have similar issues with your local school and start
your own charter school together?
And how can you do all this without
running up against the law?
Concerned parents and organizations
across the country have been asking these serious questions
for years. The information available has been clouded
by politics and misinformation, religious beliefs and
secular demands.
Now, there are answers.
Dr. Lawrence D. Weinberg, author of
the landmark book, Religious
Charter Schools: Legalities and Practicalities,
is available to consult with parents and organizations
seeking to start religious charter schools.
Religious chart schools were on the agenda at the April 24, 2008 White House Summit on Inner-City Children and Faith-Based Schools, where Dr. Weinberg was a presenter.
With advanced degrees in both law and
education, Dr. Weinberg is uniquely suited to helping
you navigate the world of charter schools. He holds
the bar and has practiced law in three states; he also
has taught on every level from grade school to college,
teaching everyone from special-needs children to other
teachers.
Drawing on his in-depth knowledge of
charter schools and his real-world experience, Dr. Weinberg
can help you determine what religious activities are
permitted in charter schools, and which are not. He
is also available to conduct studies of existing schools
to help your children get the most out of their education.
Dr. Weinberg has consulted with numerous
organizations on a variety of issues, including the
William E. Simon Foundation, the Association of Christian
Schools International, Agudath Israel of America, the
National Unity Coalition for Israel, and the Vaad Hakashruth
of Overland Park. For the Orthodox Jewish organization
Agudath Israel of America, he met with rabbis who were
investigating whether to open a Judaic themed charter
school in Minnesota.
Rates vary depending on the length
and nature of the project. Contact
Dr. Weinberg to learn about his rates.
Dr. Weinberg is available for comment
to reporters writing about religious charter schools,
religion, education, or legal issues.
Dr. Weinberg also is available to provide
lectures, seminars, or workshops
on a myriad of topics.
The laws and regulations regarding
charter schools are complex, and the issue itself is
difficult for many even to discuss. But you know that
"education" means more than "reading, 'riting, and 'rithmatic"--
it means a moral grounding in solid values. And with
Dr. Weinberg's help, you can take charge of your children's
education... all of it.
